Our History
Evergreen Community Initiatives,
is made up volunteers. Without our volunteers our programs won’t exist. Our Board of Directors is made up of people from all walks of life with various skills, but they all have one common goal: to help people in our community.
Evergreen Community Initiatives, in partnership with Frame Presbyterian Church, is committed to providing a warming center in Stevens Point. We are looking for volunteers to fill the 2 shifts at night and funding to keep this facility available. For more information contact us.
Our Mission
Charity is a virtue of the heart, & not of the hands
We all end up needing assistance at one point or another.
It’s true; everyone at some point in their life needs help. There is no denying or avoiding it. It happens. What makes us become the phoenix that rises out of the ashes of despair is the willingness to humbly accept the help, and then in time pay it forward. That is the what the backbone of our programs are about. It would be great if people didn’t need help and just got along naturally. It would be great if everyone had a house to turn into a home and endless food on the table. Unfortunately, things don’t work that way. Which is why we are here. We are here to help.
However, we also want you to help yourself. So why not sort clothes in The Kids Closet or serve food at the Place of Peace? Without our volunteers and donations this group wouldn’t exist. So please, lend a hand, help a fellow human through their trials, and pay it forward (even if you are in the midst of receiving it).
1 Peter 4:10 – As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
We Want to Help You Help Yourself
Place Of Peace
Each week, people of all walks of life gather together at The Place of Peace to share a community meal, prayers, conversation, and their lives.
Kids Closet
First through networking and social media, then eventually setting up shelves in the Evergreen Community Initiatives facility, The Kids Closet has been serving the community since 2014.
Warming Shelter
Homelessness is on the rise in the country, and this includes Stevens Point. Because of this steady rise, the Hope Center has often been at capacity and people have been sleeping unsheltered. Keeping these people off the streets, out of jail, and safe is not easy and needs the support of volunteers like you.
Tree Huggers
Located at the public library in Stevens Point, a colorfully dressed tree stands. Wrapped in scarves, hats, and mittens of all sizes and colors each has a simple note that states, “I am not lost. If you are cold, please take me to keep warm.”
