Charity is a virtue of the heart, & not of the hands

Each week, people of all walks of life gather together at the Downtown Mission Church for The Place of Peace to share a community meal, prayers, conversation, and their lives. Our cooks come from all over Stevens Point and Central Wisconsin and the menu varies widely.

We all end up needing assistance at one point or another.

It's true; everyone at some point in their life needs help. There is no denying or avoiding it. It happens. What makes us become the phoenix that rises out of the ashes of despair is the willingness to humbly accept the help, and then in time pay it forward. That is the what the backbone of our programs are about. It would be great if people didn't need help and just got along natrually. It would be great if everyone had a house to turn into a home and endless food on the table. Unfortunately, things don't work that way. Which is why we are here. We are here to help.

However, we also want you to help yourself. So why not sort clothes in The Kids Closet or serve food at the Place of Peace? Without our volunteers and donations this group wouldn't exist. So please, lend a hand, help a fellow human through their trials, and pay it forward (even if you are in the midst of receving it).

1 Peter 4:10 – As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.
